OTA 132 - Physical Disabilities 2 Lab

Basic assessment and treatment techniques as it relates to adult physical disabilities. Lab allows for practical experience in patient assessment, transfers, and daily living skills.

Enrollment Requirement: OTA 102 and OTA 103; OTA 122 and OTA 123 with grades of 2.0 or higher; concurrent enrollment in OTA 131; and enrollment in OTA program.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

Demonstrate sound judgment regarding safety of self and others and adhere to safety regulations throughout the occupational therapy process as appropriate to the setting and scope of practice. This must include the ability to assess and monitor vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory status, and temperature) to ensure that the client is stable for intervention.
Collaborating in the development of occupation-based intervention plans and strategies that must be client centered, culturally relevant, reflective of current occupational therapy practice, and based on available evidence. Under the direction of an occupational therapist, report on data for evaluation of client outcomes.
Understand how quantitative and qualitative research studies inform occupational therapy practice.
