AVIA 271 - Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Cybersecurity

Focuses on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in business enterprises and the risks posed to Internet of Things (IoT) and network security; both as tools for attackers and as vulnerable pieces of the network.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Describe cyber security fundamentals as they apply to the use of UAV.
  2. Understand regulations, compliance and investigations relating to Information Technology security. 
  3. Develop threat models and risk assessments specific to UAV.
  4. Develop security policies and procedures in an environment employing UAV.
  5. Describe common types of vulnerabilities, threats, attacks, and countermeasures to UAV.
  6. Describe how UAV can be used to perform Cyber attacks.

Program Outcomes
  1. Prepare for a position in the aviation industry or related fields utilizing unmanned aerial systems.
  2. Employ their understanding of the integral parts of the unmanned aerial system industry through practical application of diverse subjects.
  3. Demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and diverse team of aviation and other industry professionals with technology used with unmanned aerial systems.
