Graduates of Green River College’s BAS - Aeronautical Science program that are interested in becoming professional pilots may be eligible for the R-ATP (Restricted Airline Transport Pilot) certificate at 1,000 hours total time provided they have completed their Commercial and Instrument Flight training and certification from a contracted approved Part 141 flight school. A restricted privileges ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) certificate allows a pilot to serve as flight crewmember until he or she obtains the necessary 1,500 hours and the restriction is removed. VA Funding does not cover any Upper Division Flight Training Electives.
The Bachelor of Applied Science program in Aeronautical Science is also designed for students pursuing non-flight careers in the field of aviation, such as Air Traffic Control, Aviation Management, and Airline Dispatch, or any other non-flight related aviation career. Successful graduates of the program will have the knowledge and skills not only in their specific area of aviation interest, but also develop competencies in aviation from business and management perspectives across all fields.
Entry Requirements
To enter this program students must already have an associate’s degree or higher, in aviation, from a regionally accredited institution with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. On a case by case basis, with program director approval, students may start the BAS - Aeronautical Science program when they are within 20 credits of completing their associate’s degree. Students in this situation must complete their associate’s degree within their first year as a BAS student.
Students who have completed some college coursework but do not have an associate’s degree are encouraged to meet with the Program Manager to develop an academic plan and prepare for entry to the program.
