The Criminal Justice- Forensic degree program introduces individuals who wish to gain employment in areas such as police support, crime scene investigations, and fingerprint and trace evidence examination to the field of Forensic Science. Forensics or criminalistics is concerned with the recognition, identification, individualization, and evaluation of physical evidence using the methods of the natural sciences. Some of the major areas of this specialty include forensic medicine, toxicology, serology, anthropology, and odontology, trace evidence (hair, fibers, glass, etc.), documentary evidence, ballistics, explosives, accelerants, and fingerprint processing and examination.

Many forensic students continue their academic careers by transferring; some others seek employment with a variety of criminal justice agencies.

Forensic students may gain employment in areas such as police support, crime scene investigations, fingerprint technology. Employers include local, state and federal organizations as well as private industry.
