Criminal Justice-Forensic, AAS-T Curriculum Map

The Criminal Justice-Forensic degree program introduces individuals who wish to gain employment in areas such as police support, crime scene investigations, and fingerprint and trace evidence examination to the field of Forensics. Forensics or criminalistics is concerned with the recognition, identification, individualization, and evaluation of physical evidence using the methods of the natural sciences. Some of the major areas of this specialty include forensic medicine, toxicology, serology, anthropology, and odontology, trace evidence (hair, fibers, glass, etc.), documentary evidence, ballistics, explosives, accelerants, and fingerprint processing and examination. Dual Credit and Academic Credit for Prior Learning- Students who have completed classes at another school with a GRC CTE Dual Credit agreements or students who pursue and obtain Academic Credit for Prior Learning may be able to apply those credits towards a degree or certificate. Students will need to work with an academic advisor for confirmation.

Students are responsible for knowing transfer requirements and policies, as well as specific course choices and GPA requirements, are urged to consult the catalog of the institution for which they plan to transfer.

Sample Schedule


This sample schedule is provided as a guide for a full-time student with placement into ENGL& 101 and appropriate math. This curriculum map assumes a fall quarter start and taking no classes in summer quarter. A customized curriculum map will be needed for students starting the program in a different quarter and in other circumstances. Not every course is offered every quarter: careful planning is required to complete the degree in the fewest number of quarters. Students should meet with a faculty advisor throughout their course of study.

Transferability of Credits


Green River College is fully accredited. Academic courses will usually be accepted by other institutions offering the same (or similar) courses. However, each institution has its own transfer policies and each student is responsible for knowing the transfer and admission requirements of the receiving institution. Students are urged to consult with their advisor and a representative from the college they plan to attend after Green River.
