A journalism major equips students with a diverse array of skills crucial for navigating the dynamic landscape of media and communication. Through coursework in writing, reporting, and investigative techniques, students develop a keen eye for detail and a mastery of storytelling fundamentals. They learn to critically analyze information, discern credible sources, and communicate effectively across various platforms. Additionally, journalism majors cultivate strong research abilities, honing their capacity to gather, verify, and synthesize information in a timely and ethical manner. With an emphasis on multimedia production, students also gain proficiency in digital tools and technologies, enhancing their versatility in today’s rapidly evolving media environment. One Concentration option for the AA-DTA is the Digital Media Concentration

Students are responsible for knowing transfer requirements and policies, as well as specific course choices and GPA requirements, and are urged to consult the catalog of the institution for which they plan to transfer.

Transferability of Credits


Green River College is fully accredited. Academic courses will usually be accepted by other institutions offering the same (or similar) courses. However, each institution has its own transfer policies and each student is responsible for knowing the transfer and admission requirements of the receiving institution. Students are urged to consult with their advisor and a representative from the college they plan to attend after Green River.
