ACCT 221 - Payroll Accounting

Credits: 5
In-depth coverage of payroll calculations, payroll taxes, maintaining proper payroll records and preparing necessary deposits and filings. Includes an Excel-based payroll project. Previously ACCT 121.

Enrollment Requirement: ACCT 111  or ACCT& 201  with a grade of 2.0 or higher.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Compute employee payroll and employer payroll taxes.
  2. Prepare payroll records and reports.
  3. Analyze and journalize payroll transactions in an accounting system.

Program Outcomes
  1. Translate data into various formats such as symbolic language, equations, graphs, and formulas.
  2. Implement calculator/computer technology to solve problems.
