ENGL& 237 - Creative Writing II Credits: 5 Develops skills in using techniques for writing poetry (metaphor and simile, use of diction, irony, imagery, sound, and structure) and develops skills in using techniques for writing fiction (generating ideas; controlling viewpoint; and exploring development of theme, tone, symbols, and style).
Enrollment Requirement: ENGL& 236 .
Satisfies Requirement: Humanities/Fine Arts/English
Course Outcomes: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
- Refine skills around writing fiction and poetry that were developed in ENGL& 236 .
- Build skills to submit poetry and short stories for publication in literary journals.
- Develop critical analysis skills and aesthetic appreciation in regard to reading and producing creative writing.
Program Outcomes Produce effective written communication, which demonstrates critical thinking; writing and research processes; and knowledge of genres for workplace, expository, or research writing.
