MATH 238 - Differential Equations Credits: 5 Study of the theory and solutions of first and second order differential equations, existence and uniqueness theorems, numerical methods of solution, and applications. Additional topics may be chosen from the following: series solutions for differential equations, systems of linear differential equations, Laplace transforms, and stability theory. Graphing calculator required.
Enrollment Requirement: MATH& 254 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or concurrent enrollment in MATH& 254 ; or appropriate math placement.

Course Outcomes: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
- Solve separable, exact and linear first order differential equations.
- Solve higher order linear or Cauchy-Euler differential equations.
- Apply the theory of differential equations to solve problems from various disciplines.
- Apply the existence and uniqueness theorems to first and second order equations.
- Apply direction fields and numerical methods to approximate solutions.
