MATH 297 - Independent Study-Mathematics Credits: 1-5 Encourages students to independently study an area or topic of special interest in mathematics. Students meet on a tutorial basis with the instructor.
Enrollment Requirement: MATH& 148 , MATH& 151 or MATH 256 with a grade of 2.0 or higher and instructor consent.
Course Outcomes: Course outcomes to be mutually agreed upon between instructor and student. Program Outcomes
- Recognize which quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods are appropriate for solving a given problem.
- Correctly implement the quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods that are appropriate for solving a given problem.
- Translate data into various formats such as symbolic language, equations, graphs, and formulas.

- Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning - Quantitative Reasoning encompasses abilities necessary for a student to become literate in today’s technological world. Quantitative reasoning begins with basic skills and extends to problem solving.
