ACCT 215 - Advanced Business Computation

Credits: 5
Expands the computational skills of students preparing to enter business and accounting employment. Provides a thorough review of more complex arithmetic processes and their application to typical business and accounting problems. Covers topics such as annuities, installment buying, mortgages, insurance, investments and business statistics.

Enrollment Requirement: BTAC 110  with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or instructor consent.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Correctly calculate, analyze and apply advanced computational techniques to business and accounting situations to obtain information needed for recording transactions and decision making.

Program Outcomes
  1. Utilize appropriate technology, including word processing and spreadsheet applications, to input, manage, summarize, and interpret business information and to develop forms and reports to assist management in planning operations, identifying potential problems, and controlling business activities.   
  2. Analyze and record business transactions and activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking, analytical and quantitative skills in problem solving, decision making, and responsibility by completing assignments independently and/or as a dependable team member.
