JOURN 116 - Radio/Digital Radio Lab 2

Credits: 5
Students continue to learn and refine their on-air and behind-the-scenes training at our broadcast radio stations (KGRG and KGRG-FM). Students will become familiar with industry-standard software tools required for broadcast automation systems. Students will also assist in the training of new students while preparing for their careers in broadcasting.

Enrollment Requirement: JOURN 115  or instructor consent.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Understand the daily operations of a radio station.
  2. Apply advanced techniques in the operation of radio equipment.
  3. Identify and demonstrate industry-accepted on-the-air techniques.
  4. Demonstrate and apply the proper procedures to fill out official FCC paperwork.
  5. Create newscasts and apply relevant show prep techniques.
  6. Understand and create air check recordings.
