AVIA 216 - Basic Instrument Pilot Ground School

Credits: 5
Provides students with information to pass the FAA instrument pilot written examination. Covers basic instrument flight procedures and planning including radio navigation, IFR flight planning and decision-making, ATC procedures, and FAA regulations pertinent to instrument flight. FAA part 141 approved.

Enrollment Requirement: AVIA 111 or instructor consent.

Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

Identify the knowledge and skill requirements for obtaining an Instrument Rating.
Apply their understanding of Weather Services, Air Traffic Control, IFR flying, IFR navigation, and safety.
Interpret Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to IFR flight.
Employ the proper procedures used with navigation charts and equipment needed for IFR flight.
Demonstrate their understanding of Instrument Rating knowledge through written FAA stage exams.
