WELD 194 - Special Welding Project 1

Suits the student’s personal needs. Course focuses beyond basic techniques in GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, in pipe, plate, aluminum, titanium, and magnesium welding.

Enrollment Requirement: Instructor consent.

Course Fee: $12.50 per credit

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

Apply basic shop safety.
Properly use heavy shop equipment.
Learn the theory of semi-automatic welding processes (FCAW).
Perform FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) in the 2 and 3F positions.
Learn to identify weld profiles plus cause and effect of FCAW.
Weld with C25 and CO2 welding gases.
Learn basic operation of multi-process inverters.
Be familiar with machine polarity and machine operation.
Operate and understand basic theory operation of wire feed units.

Program Outcomes

Work as an industry standard trade welder.
Demonstrate OSHA and WISHA standards for safety in the workplace.
Use multiple welding processes in all positions.
Identify the cause and effect of various welding processes per welding procedure (WPS).
Understand basic theory of welding and the related equipment.
Conform to AWS and WABO qualification procedures.
