JOURN 115 - Media Creation & Storytelling Basics

In this hands-on course, students explore the basics of multimedia creation through projects and workshops. They learn an introduction to the theory and practice of podcasting, streaming, radio and TV broadcasting, social media content creation, script writing, and news reporting.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Describe and demonstrate the fundamentals of multimedia creation, including podcasting, streaming, radio and TV broadcasting, social media content creation, script writing, and news reporting.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in operating basic broadcast and digital media equipment.
  3. Apply industry-accepted broadcasting techniques across various multimedia platforms.
  4. Recall and apply the proper procedures to fill out official FCC paperwork.
  5. Produce newscasts and implement relevant show prep techniques.
  6. Use evaluation and assessment practices for multimedia content.
