ART 123 - Beginning Videography

Credits: 5
Provides a theoretical and practical understanding of videography through the techniques of video production. Students will explore camera operation, video capture, audio, lighting and creativity within the context of video photography as an art form. This course will include a creative project from conception through completion using current audio and video editing software.

Satisfies Requirement: Humanities/Fine Arts/English
Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the proper use of camera controls (including aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and ISO).
  2. Apply the elements of composition.
  3. Demonstrate effective lighting techniques.
  4. Apply editing techniques in a creative and cohesive way to their work.
  5. Apply editing techniques to create clean and clear audio.
  6. Demonstrate organized file management.
  7. Illustrate a concept or idea through storyboarding.
