CMST 113 - Communication in Social Media Contexts Credits: 5 Social media communication includes an overview of communication theory and skill development in social media settings. In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, effective self-presentation is key to success in both personal and professional realms. Self-presentation on social media is founded upon various communication studies theories that can help boost its effectiveness. This introductory course is designed for students interested in harnessing the power of social media for self-presentation and communication strategies. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving world of digital communication and create impactful self-presentational communication strategies for their own ventures or community initiatives.
Course Outcomes: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
- Identify media tools and affordances.
- Use media tools and affordances to deliver messages.
- Craft self-presentational communication strategies for audience impact.
