NATRS 192 - GIS for Natural ResourcesCredits: 5 Provides an overview with hands-on experience with ArcGIS tools and functionality in Natural Resources applications. Emphasizes the three principal components of ArcGIS: ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox. Provides hands-on practical exercises using field data in various formats including shapefiles, coverages, geodatabase feature classes, and raster data. Explores how to use geospatial datasets already available and how to create, modify or build new databases, as well as how to download data from the Internet. Students create, manage, analyze, and display georeferenced datasets and finished maps.
Prerequisite: Second year Natural Resources student completed one of these courses: NATRS 172 and (MATH 072 or MATH 097 ); or instructor’s permission.
