MATH& 142 - PreCalculus II Credits: 5 Study of trigonometric functions and their applications, inverse trigonometric functions, trigonometric equations, trigonometric identities, solutions of right and oblique triangles, vectors, polar coordinates, parametric equations, and conics. Graphing calculator required.
Prerequisite: MATH& 141 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or appropriate math placement.
Satisfies Requirement: Natural Science and Quantitative Skills
Course Outcomes: Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
- Graph and understand the properties of trigonometric functions and their inverse functions.
- Apply the triangle definitions of the trigonometric functions.
- Apply trigonometric identities.
- Solve trigonometric equations.
- Analyze and graph parametric and polar equations, and conic sections.
- Graph and perform basic operations with vectors.
- Solve application problems.
