Information Technology-Systems and Security, AAS-T

This degree program prepares students for entry into a Information Technology-Cybersecurity and Networking, BAS  or Information Technology-Software Development, BAS  degree programs at Green River College. In addition, this applied associate’s degree program prepares students for entry-level employment in a variety of IT positions, such as help desk technician, technical support specialist, network technician, and network or computer systems administrator.

Students in this degree program receive foundational training in a broad range of networking, systems administration, and software development, resulting in a balanced, well-rounded knowledge of information technology. In addition to these specialized courses, students learn key interpersonal communication skills sought by employers.

Program Outcomes


Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:

  1. Understand and demonstrate procedures to install, configure, support, and troubleshoot operating systems.
  2. Understand security principles, system and network vulnerabilities, and common mitigation practices.
  3. Understand and demonstrate basic programming and database constructs.
  4. Understand network infrastructure, logic, and troubleshooting procedures.

Students who wish to continue on to the Information Technology-Cybersecurity and Networking, BAS  should complete MATH 108  or MATH 147 . Students who wish to continue on to the Information Technology-Software Development, BAS  should complete MATH& 141  or MATH 147 , or higher.
