This degree program prepares students for a career in Early Childhood Education. The completion of the degree or certificate program prepares graduates to seek employment in child care centers, Head Start, family child care homes, cooperative and private preschools, children’s homes, institutions and other programs serving children from birth through 8 years of age. This curriculum provides meaningful instruction for parents, foster parents and persons working with young children as instructional aides or paraeducators. Cultural relevancy is integrated into each course.
Dual Credit and Academic Credit for Prior Learning- Students who have completed classes at another school with a GRC CTE Dual Credit agreements or students who pursue and obtain Academic Credit for Prior Learning may be able to apply those credits towards a degree or certificate. Students will need to work with an academic advisor for confirmation..
Sample Schedule
This sample schedule is provided as a guide for a full-time student with placement into ENGL& 101 and appropriate math. This curriculum map assumes a fall quarter start and taking no classes in summer quarter. A customized curriculum map will be needed for students starting the program in a different quarter and in other circumstances. Not every course is offered every quarter: careful planning is required to complete the degree in the fewest number of quarters.
