                  MATH& 107 - Math in Society      Credits: 5 Study of various mathematical topics including growth models, finance, statistics, and probability. Additional topics may include voting theory, fair division, networks, scheduling, apportionment and other fields.    
  Enrollment Requirement: MATH 97  with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or either MATH 72  or TS/TS-OD 57 with a grade of 2.5 or higher and concurrently enrolled in MATH 30 Support Course for MATH& 107  ; or appropriate math placement.  
  Satisfies Requirement: Natural Science and Quantitative Skills Course Fee: $2.00
  Course Outcomes:  Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
	- Calculate compound interest income. 
 
	- Calculate payments for the amortization of a loan and deposits for annuity accumulation.  
 
	- Use linear and exponential growth models to make predictions.  
 
	- Identify different types of samples of a population. 
 
	- Analyze data from censuses, surveys, and comparative experiments. 
 
	- Graph data using box plots and histograms. 
 
	- Calculate and analyze descriptive statistics including mean, median, standard deviation, and quartiles. 
 
	- Describe sample spaces and calculate the probability of events in a random experiment. 
 
	- Solve modern application problems.

	- Recognize which quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods are appropriate for solving a given problem.
 
	- Correctly implement the quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods that are appropriate for solving a given problem.
