MATH 070 - Pre-Algebra

Credits: 5
Study of problem solving, geometry and measurement, exponents, and signed numbers. Includes introductory work with polynomials, simple equations, basic descriptive statistics, and graphing.

Prerequisite: MATH 062 with a grade of 2.5 or higher; or appropriate math placement.

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

Perform operations with fractions, decimals, and integers in an algebraic environment including order of operations.
Apply geometry and measurement concepts including the Pythagorean theorem.
Perform operations with integer exponents.
Simplify basic polynomial expressions.
Solve simple equations.
Calculate basic descriptive statistics.
Graph points onto the Cartesian coordinate system.
