MATH 30 - Support Course for MATH& 107

Credits: 2
Support course for MATH& 107  that covers pre-college topics needed in MATH& 107. The course must be taken concurrently with MATH& 107 . Study of fractions, percents, exponents, roots, functions, formulas, linear equations, and study skills strategies.

Enrollment Requirement: MATH 72  or TS/TS-OD 57 with a 2.5 or higher, or appropriate math placement; and concurrent enrollment in MATH& 107 . Recommended: READ 104 , ENGL 97

Course Outcomes:
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:

  1. Use order of operations to evaluate expressions including those with fractions, integer exponents, and square roots. 
  2. Calculate with and convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages.   
  3. Give the definition of a function and interpret function notation. 
  4. Solve linear equations.  
  5. Identify values in applications and use them to evaluate formulas. 
  6. Describe study skills strategies.

  1. Recognize which quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods are appropriate for solving a given problem. 
  2. Correctly implement the quantitative or symbolic reasoning methods that are appropriate for solving a given problem. 
  3. Translate data into various formats such as symbolic language, equations, graphs, and formulas.
