Aeronautical Science Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree has two options, Flight Operations and Aviation Operations Management. The degree is designed for students pursuing careers in the field of aviation. Successful graduates of the program will have the knowledge and skills not only in their specific area of aviation interest, but also develop competencies in aviation from business and management perspectives. Students pursuing flight training through Green River College partner flight schools may enter this degree program in partial fulfillment of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for the Restricted Air Transport Pilot (RATP) Certification.
The Aeronautical Science BAS builds on the following Green River College AAS degrees:
Students typically begin their studies in the BAS program at third-year (junior) standing, with credits earned during their first and second year applying towards the total 180 credits.
Entry Requirements
To enter this program, students must have an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in aviation. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or a waiver from the Program Director for entry into the program. Students who have completed some college coursework but do not have an associate degree or higher are encouraged to meet with an advisor in the Aviation Department to develop an educational plan to prepare for entry into the program.
Students pursuing flight training for the Restricted Air Transport Pilot (R-ATP) Certification must meet the requirements of the FAA under CFR Title 14, Part 61.123.
